Easily make a reconciliation agent of your choice, using Copilot Studio

Hola friends, here is a quick write-up that can help you setup an agent that can help you resolve reconciliation of your various transactions (vendor, customer) and can help you understand the differences in an easy, understandable dashboards.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you have a valid license with Copilot Studio
  • Ensure you have a D365F&O license
  • Enabled Virtual entities on your PPAC account
  • Ensure that you have a Dataverse access and that you can connect your Copilot to Dataverse, enable virtual entities to make the data be available on Dataverse
Please refer to my YouTube channels for more insights:

Steps

Let us jump on Copilot Studio website and choose the correct environment. Reach out to Copilot Studio Agents >> Create an Agent >> The  following screen will appear, that can let you define your agent of your choice:

I am defining the agent, the activities that I want it to carry out:

To which the Copilot responds, asking me to fulfil the various basic inputs to be able to create the same:

It’s asking me for the rule for reconciliation:

It’s asking me to add the knowledge sources, to which I am saying that I would do it later, please take me to the Creating the Agent part:

Hit Create to Create the Agent. It will take a while to finish off, and then the agent would be ready. Click on Add knowledge, select Dataverse:

Choosing Vendor transaction (which is a virtual table) >> Add to agent:

I am also going to upload the excel for transaction, that contains data, which I am going to match with the dataverse data:

Click on Add to agent.
You can additionally:
  1. Keep updating the knowledge article for your excel that you provided
  2. Use Azure AI index as an alternate source
  3. Try making use of MCP server as an agent knowledge article

Click on save, and if you click on “See all” of your knowledge sources, you would be able to see all the knowledge articles added:

Click on Publish to Continue.
At this point your Copilot should be able to answer your questions. I am asking the agents questions like:

You can see the Copilot agent referring to the knowledge sources:

And the result shown up in the result sidecar window as follows:

Amazing, ain’t it? Please note, every time, you run the query, the result might come different, and you need to adjust your instructions to the agent accordingly:

Save it and run the agent again:

Keep repeating the exercise, till you come to an agreeable conclusion. Save and publish the Agent: you can use it from D365 or Whatsapp or Teams channel.
