Power Platform | How many curries are in there?
After introducing and talking about the new cloud transformation in my previous article, I received a couple of requests if I could outline or provide some typical use-cases when it comes to fulfill on Modernize targets (if you´re not familiar with this term, I recommend having a look at the link above first) using the Power Platform.
In fact those requests reminded me of asking a person from Indian subcontinent the question of how many curries are in there? Curry or curries is an umbrella term referring to a number of dishes originating in the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent (at least that´s how I learned it). It´s also known for an unlimited potential and so is Power Platform. One cannot attach a number to it. Therefore, I am always asking myself if answering above question and highlighting a single use-case could lead to the wrong assumption?

Instead, I´m sharing with you kind of an aspect of a tasty curry that is composed using both Power Platform and Azure strength. Consider a team of code-first developers who could expose backend services as APIs using Azure API Management. Those could be transformed or extended using either additional Azure Services like Logic Apps, Functions or they could also be transformed using the low-code capabilities of Power Automate – just to name a few options (there are way more in fact).
The benefit of this, both low-code and code-first developers being able to consume those APIs and build fantastic use-cases. A branch office application, a Fleet- or HR-Management app or a modernization of an Inventory Management solution, to name a few. Enabling for such capabilities you can refer to as Remote Developer Productivity. And this is a benefit that drives business outcomes, digital transformation or can even unleash a new business area.
Same as within a curry the combinations of spices or herbs drives the result and could vary, above visual is not the only you could come up with.

Here´s another one. This time talking about the combination of services from Azure and Power Platform to enable both code-first and low-code developers to create collaborative applications, processes or conversational chats that could be injected with preditictive services. On top of an intelligence- and data layer, we added a connectivity- / gateway- and analytics layer and used one of the 600+ connectors to build or extend an app, a process flow, or simply a collaborative solution that could be governed by using one of the services that comes within Identity Management.
Think of it like on top of a multitude of spices and herbs, we just added different flavours, textures and aromas and created another curry though we stayed closed to a recipe. As simple as creating or cooking curries, the amount of use-cases is close to an endless number, but it is secured (governed) by a recipe you are following to protect from being tasteless in the end.
If you now feel hungry and pleased to search for a good curry recipe, please feel free to drop. Until then,…
