Supply Chain Insights

Quick Overview:

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Insights enables your business to quickly respond to anticipated or sudden changes in your supply chain. This capability is achieved through risk insights that help you better understand how internal and external changes might affect your supply chain.

In this post I will describe the requirements and instructions for signing up for and setting up Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Insights.

  1. Sign up for the public preview

Send a preview request from here. Supply Chain Insights uses a gated process to enroll new public preview users. You will receive an email with onboarding details when your request is accepted, it’s being done on a rolling basis.

  1. Prerequisites

Supply Chain Insights is currently available only in the English, German, and simplified Chinese languages.

Supply Chain Insights supports only the most recent and second most recent versions of Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari browsers. Please make sure that WebGL is also activated in your browser's settings.

An Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) tenant is required. A tenant represents an organization in Azure AD and lets you manage user access to Azure resources to ensure controlled access to your data. If you don’t have an Azure AD tenant, you can sign up for a free Microsoft 365 trial*. Then use the email address associated with your Microsoft 365 trial to sign up for the Supply Chain Insights.

If you are already a Power Platform user, check your administrator setting to make sure that every user in the tenant can create trial environments. This Microsoft Docs page contains two approaches to changing the setting. You can either go through the Microsoft Power Platform admin center to let every user in the tenant create trial environments or use PowerShell instructions. If you use the PowerShell instructions, change the DisableEnvironmentCreationByNonAdminUsers setting to $false instead of $true. This setting can be changed back to $true once you've onboarded SCI.

  1. Onboarding

Follow these steps to set up SCI environment. This is a 6-month trial and you will need a credit card to convert it to production. However, you will not be billed as long as the product is in the Public Preview stage.

  1. Click on the SIGN-UP LINK from the email to begin the onboarding process.
  2. Choose where your data will be stored. Please note, that data can be stored only in the United States but there are plans to expand this.

3. Enter a company name and a team name. The combination of the two names must be unique.

 4. Once your tenant is provisioned, accept the request for access to your location. This access will be used to offer better suggestions as you search for locations in the next two steps.

5. Steps to complete to get Insights

  • Customer Profile:

You should add general information and corporate details, financial information, certifications, and corporate social responsibility actions. Read more.

  • Supply Chain Network

Invite new or existing vendors and customers so that you can collaborate, share data, and gain greater visibility into your supply chain. Before you add partners, you should complete the previous step (company profile). Supply Chain Insights will suggest partners, based on the data in your company profile and the industry that your company is part of. Instructions here.

  • Import Data

To generate insights that are relevant to your business, Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Insights requires data that is relevant to your supply chain. Here is the list of Data Entities that data needs to be imported to. Instructions are here and the Demo Data for SCI.

6. View your Supply Chain Insights

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Insights uses your ingested data and information that is received from partners to generate analytics. The analytics provide a current snapshot of different parts of your supply chain, such as supply and demand, shipping, and vendor performance. Analytics are presented as dashboards that use charts and tables.

Refer this page to get more details on the available Dashboards and the entities required for respective dashboards.
