Hands on with the Microsoft Dynamics GP Fall 2020 Release: Install Web Services

With the Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP prerequisites ready, we can now install the web services. Launch the setup utility and, under the Additional Products heading, select Web Services Runtime:

Accept the terms of the License Agreement and click Next:

This isn;t a mutli-tenant installation, so leave the checkbox unmarked and click Next:

Enter the full SQL Server Instance name field in the Server Name box and enter your Dynamics GP System Database name (by default this is DYNAMICS, but I am using a named system database); decide on the authentication type, making sure the selected user has permissions oN SQL to create a database and click Next:

Verify the Install Location and click Next:

Select the Dynamics Security Data Store location (SQL Server is recommended) and click Next:

Enter the full SQL Server Instance name, of the server which will host the Dynamics Security Data Store, in the Server Name field and enter the Database Name which will be created to hold the security data. Click Next:

Click OK on the warning dialog about no security store at the location and that one will be created:

No security store currently exists at the specified location.
One will be created during the installation.

Enter the details of the Application User Account (this is required to be a Domain account on a multimachine system, although I always try to use a Domain account regardless); click Next:

The default Service Ports are 48620 and 48621, but these can be changed if necessary. Click Next:

If you’re using the web client (as I am), mark the Yes… checbox and enter the details of the server which holds the web clietn GP Configuration database and click Next:

To begin the installation click Install:

Once the installation is complete, click Exit (by default the Configuration Wizard will be run, but is also available from the Windows Start menu):
