Scrum Dynamics 27 - User Story Maps

Neil Benson Profile Picture Neil Benson 7,369 User Group Leader

Have you ever wondered how to pitch a Dynamics 365 project when you’re proposing to use the Scrum framework?

Compared to sequential, prescriptive methodologies like Sure Step that emphasise comprehensive documentation over working software, agile software development frameworks like Scrum can feel a little lightweight.

That’s the situation that Jonas is facing. Jonas Wauters is a Dynamics 365 advisor at KPMG Belgium, and even though his client is familiar with Scrum, they keep asking three little questions that Scrum can’t answer:

  1. What are you going to delvier?

  2. When are you going to deliver it?

  3. How much is it going to cost?

Jonas wants some help answering the dreaded scope, timeline and costs questions because the Scrum Guide doesn’t offer much helping with estimating or planning Scrum projects.

My advice to Jonas is to consider using user story maps. Listen in to find out more about user story maps in Dynamics 365 projects.

You can read more about user story maps for planning Dynamics 365 projects here:
Dynamcis 365 Story Maps for Release Planning.

And I highly recommend Jeff Paton’s book about user stories and user story mapping:
User Story Mapping: Discover the Whole Story, Build the Right Product.
