Post#41: Understanding Fixed Asset Value model Status

real_ashwin Profile Picture real_ashwin 1,225

In AX 2012 R3 Value models track the financial value of a fixed asset over time for various purposes, such as accounting depreciation, tax depreciation, revaluation, and disposal. Each value model represents an independent financial life cycle, and each fixed asset can have several value models assigned to it.

Each value model attached to an asset has a status this status describes the asset state.

To view the status of a given value model on an asset you can click on a fixed asset and select the value models button on the action pane, in the new form on the grid you can find the status:

Each status is created based on a particular transaction being completed. Depending on the status of the fixed asset what you are allowed to do with that asset is also effected.

I could not find any info on MSdocs on the status and felt it might be useful to shed more light on this for others new to fixed assets.

The below table details this:

Shout out to Anil a good friend of mine who happens to be one of the best AX finance functional consultants who took the time to proofread the above table

Note: some of you may get an error trying to “dispose – scrap” an asset of “Closed” value model status however just note this is a bug you can find it in issue search on LCS.

Issue 3800394 – Resolved : Disposal scrap can not be posted for a closed asset.

That’s all folks. Happy DAXing…
