If you’ve ever had a problem with the AA budget amounts not showing correctly in MR, it could be caused by the way the report is formatted. Let’s start with our AA budget in GP. The budget tree is made up of the Airline and Flight dimensions
Airline owns flight.
In this budget, the top level has $3,000.
The Airline level (Dakota Wind, NLS, Prairie Wings) each have 1,000.
The Flight (Mnpl to Fargo, NY to London) have 500 each. The other Flights (Redmond to Fargo, Orlando to GF) have 1000 each.
In the row definition, the full account number is added.
When the account only is used, MR reads all dimensions. This causes the budget to be doubled since it reads both the Airline and Flight dimensions. Our budget shows $6,000 when it should be $3,000.
If we drill down, we can see that the budget amount from the Airline and the Flight are both being pulled in.
When the Flight dimension is added to the account, only the child level is read. If we drill down on that row, we can see only the Flight dimension.
If we include both dimensions, then we get the correct amount.
If we drill down on that row, we get this:
