Welcome to my Microsoft D365 Business Central blog – Finding The Righter Way
Welcome to my Microsoft D365 Business Central blog – Finding The Righter WayTM. I think you will soon learn that I really enjoy helping users find the answers they need so that Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) makes their job easier, not harder.
I decided to start this blog when I found it difficult to find the answers to the challenges I was trying to solve with standard functionality in BC. Much of the documentation out there is a generic overview of the functionality and doesn’t go into enough detail to help me solve the problems I was being challenged by.
What I was looking for was more in depth than learn.microsoft.com provided but less technical than some of the heavy-duty documentation I found. Yes, documentation has been greatly improved over the years, but there seems to be gaps between the strictly functional and the strictly technical. I am not looking to write an extension. I just need to know how to use the system we already have, to its fullest capabilities. I hope that with this blog I will be able to fill that gap.
In addition, I find it difficult to uncover the answers when searching based on a problem. There is more than enough information available on the general functionality and how it should work, just not enough on the problems and when it is not working right. I hope that the format of these blogs written about a problem then how to solve it will fill another gap.
I don't want you to think that you're going to have tons of problems in BC because that's not true. But the more you work with BC and the more you delve into the advanced features, you may find, as I did, that the documentation you need is slim pickings.
My intent over the coming months is to cover topics such as the Microsoft Release Planner, data exchange definitions for electronic banking, changes in permissions, feature management, monitor fields, change log, batch invoicing, bank reconciliations, and anything I uncover as I work with customers and other consultants. Some of these topics will be covered based on the problems I've had and what I've done to be able to solve them. Other topics will be more in-depth views of standard functionality and how to use it properly. Frequently there is more than one way to do something in BC, and I like sharing those different ways and helping users find The Righter WayTM for them.
In addition, I will share links to anything I publish in places such as ERPSoftwareBlog and MSDynamicsWorld as those articles may be of interest to you also.
And finally, just for fun I will share posts about goings-on in the community such as conferences and user group meetings, both in-person and virtual.
Welcome aboard, I hope it's a fun ride!
