Generate Default Finance, SCM and WHM Templates from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

Welcome to my next blog on Generating default data Templates for ERP implementation from Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

In this blog, we shall see how we can generate module wise data entity templates for specific modules for a fresh implementation.

Problem statement-

In each D365 Implementation, the very basic starting point is, we need to discuss with the module wise templates with Business team, based on the same templates, they provide us the data and then we import, configure those in D365,

However, at time, to get templates like data entity module wise can be time taking and sometime can be missed to share the important templates, which further leads to the project sprint delivery delay

Solution

MSD365 has a very easy and one click solution to generate the templates for individual modules and Consultants does not need to individually export and send to send to business users

Lets explore

Navigate to System Admin from any of your environment, this is possible in any devbox or sandbox

Then Navigate to templates Workspace

Click on the "Templates", the below page will open

Now, select “Load default templates"

Now, we can select all or click on “Load all”, this will load and fetch all the templates existing in D365

From there, this will take some time to load all the templates from D365

Now, all the templates are loaded and created those as individual module wise

Hence, whenever required, we shall export these templates and send those to business team or we can review this and show in the discussion with business

Create an export project from Data Management workspace

Click on “Add template” and select the templates from the drop down and target data as excel etc.

After that, all the data entities template for the module will be fetched and can be exported for further work with business

Not only thus- we can create our own template and then ad the required data entities and then re-use that for future purpose.

This can be done from Template workspace, from where we loaded the default templates, then create new add data entities and save the template
