Enabling prefiltering in SSRS reports and publish in CRM Online

Note:  This article assumes experience on SQL Server Reporting Services for developing reports and FetchXML to query data from CRM

1. So let’s start with adding a new report item and setting up data source and credentials.

Connection string is https://UniqueOrgName.crm.dynamics.com;UniqueOrgname

UniqueOrgName is available in CRM >Settings >Customization >Developer Resources

2. Create a data set and import Fetch XML query for fetching data from CRM Online

Set “enableprefiltering=1” in the entity tag of FetchXML query. Reportparametername is optional. It will automatically create a new parameter with prefix ‘CRM’

In report preview, the report might not be displayed since CRM parameter is expected.

4. Save and upload the report in CRM

Login to your CRM Online and go to>Workplace> Reports>Select ‘New’

Browse the existing rdl file and add Related record type and area in which the report has to be displayed i.e. Forms , Lists and Reports area

5. Go to Related Record Type in CRM

When you select any record and run report from the menu, the report will be shown in “Run on Selected records” section since prefiltering is ON.

6. When clicked on the report, you get an option to run the report on selected records.

7. Click on Run Report to view the report. Edit Filter if you want to change the selected record
