PSA – Avoiding Common Mistakes

Scaleable Solutions Profile Picture Scaleable Solutions 394

Please follow below points to avoid the most common mistakes many Dynamics CRM users, specially beginners, make when using Project Service Automation:

  1. Use Correct Forms

Dynamics 365 can offer multiple forms for each entity and when using PSA side of things, you must use correct forms. Example: When creating a new opportunity, switch to “Project Information” form (if not already selected).

  2. Enable Resource Sign-Up

In “Project finder” mobile app, the users can self-apply for matching project positions that are open. For such positions to appear in the app, you must enable resource sign-up feature on those projects.

  3. Set Correct PSA Parameters

In the same mobile app there is a feature where project resources can add/update their skills. For that to work, first, you must set the correct PSA parameters.

  4. Set Project Approver

When a project is active, all the project time entries are approved by an approver. So while creating Project-teams, you must set (at least) one of the team members as “Project Approver”.

    Mark as Approver

  5. Side-notes for Time Entries

You can make optional side notes and attachments to a project time entry that adds alot to it. For those notes to be included properly, you must add them while the entry is still in draft state.
