Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Quickly enabling remote access to business-critical applications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and facilitating mass moves to home working has been no easy feat. Organisations across the country have been doing all they can to ensure business continuity and continued operations.

For some organisations, these recent weeks, as we navigate Covid-19, have been busier than ever, while others are experiencing a slowdown, and in some cases, have ceased trading. Nevertheless, business continuity is essential in the current situation, and for those still trading, business operations must go on.

Given the turbulent situation organisations are finding themselves in, why would now be an excellent time to evaluate your ERP software? Surely there are far more critical organisational challenges needing to be addressed just now? Well, that may be the case, but here are three compelling reasons why now is an excellent time to upgrade your ERP software and select Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft’s ERP solution for SMEs (formerly known as Dynamics NAV).

Low upfront costs

With the popularity of cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on the rise over recent years, upfront costs have decreased.

How is this cost reduction realised? For starters, gone are the days of needing to purchase servers and other hardware required to run an on-premises ERP. There is no need for system maintenance or manual system updates, as these elements are all performed automatically in the cloud and managed by Microsoft as part of your subscription.

High ROI

An independent study by Nucleus found that for every ÂŁ1 spent on Dynamics 365 Business Central (including implementation costs) organisations yield, on average, a ÂŁ17 return in the first three years after deployment. This is twice the average return typically seen in the industry for ERP projects.

Therefore, if you assume an investment of ÂŁ50,000 for Dynamics 365 Business Central (including implementation licenses and support), then you create an ÂŁ850,000 return in the first three years after deployment. This is compared to an ERP industry average of ÂŁ400,000.

Reduced maintenance efforts

Not only has Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central decreased the upfront costs for organisations, but it’s also changed the type of involvement that’s needed from IT teams. The days of IT teams managing and maintaining systems on-premises are gone.

With Dynamics 365 Business Central, there’s no need for time-consuming or costly updates. All updates are all done automatically in the cloud. In the current situation of maintaining social distancing, this remote capability is even more of an added benefit.

If you are considering upgrading from an on-premises ERP like Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central and would like to know more, our two-day upgrade assessment and discovery workshop is a great starting point.
