ChatGPT in Excel

We are now familiar with the latest buzz on ChatGPT. In this post, I am giving a brief introduction on integrating ChatGPT with Excel.

Excel is an incredibly powerful tool for getting meaning out of vast amounts of data. But it also works really well for simple calculations and tracking almost any kind of information.

Here, I am trying to generate a sample dataset for my testing using chatGPT.

Open Excel and click ‘Insert’-> ‘Add-ins’

Click Add and you will be prompted to enter the secret key. If you don`t have one, follow the steps mentioned by ChatGPT . Once ready, enter the API key and click Apply.

Now ChatGPT is ready for your use.

I tried for generating a simple dataset for Student records with the syntax below.

In the formula bar, type =AI.ASK(“Your question”).

I will post more on ChatGPT integration with excel in my next post. We need to get familiarized on phrasing proper questions for chatGPT to interpret and give expected output.

Of course, this is interesting to do a hit or miss with this feature to get better understanding.
