How to create “Recurring Maintenance Cases” when using @ZapObjects Copy / Clone Record App for Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Service and Power Apps

Duplicating of record is one of those nifty features that doesn’t exist in PowerApps / Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales / Customer Service out-of-the-box. Using Zap Copy Record App you can Copy, Clone or Duplicate Records in single click!

In the latest release (Nov 23) of Zap Copy Record App, we have added a new functionality called as “Copy Recurrence“. This allows you to automate COPY/CLONE of any record based on a defined recurrence pattern.

In this blog, we will show you how to create “Recurring Cases” using Zap Copy Record App.

Let’s go through the use-case:

You offer Support services to your Customers. As a part of these services, you may be doing lot of routine tasks like server maintenance, system updates, testing. Most of these have to be done every month/quarter. Wouldn’t it be great to have each of these be created as Cases automatically on X day of every month? This way your support team will get reminded of these tasks and can also track their time spent against these cases.

This can now be easily achieved using Zap Copy Record App’s “Recurrence Copy” feature. You can create a Case which has all the information regarding these maintenance activities … and then set its “Copy Recurrence” settings.

Below would be the steps to create a “Recurring Case”:

Step 1: Open the required case record.
Step 2: From ribbon, click button “Set Copy Recurrence”
Step 3: Select the recurrence pattern (frequency, due date, start and end dates) and save!

Now, this case record will get automatically CLONED / COPIED every month.

Thus we can see that by using “Recurring Cases”, you can easily track your repeating support work without having to create a new case every time.
