PowerBI and NAV2015 – a quick preview
I have a small idea on how to produce a good data visualization for your organization. I’m using a Microsoft products, Excel PowerBI and integrated with Microsoft Dynamics NAV2015.
Microsoft has had a product called Excel Power BI for quite sometime, but I just getting into it starting this year (2015). Excel Power BI is a great tool that enables you to find information and visualize data, share discoveries, and collaborate in intuitive new ways – you can read more here and here (2).
This is NOT that online PowerBI.com. Microsoft call it a Self-Service BI in Excel. Just think that Excel PowerBI is simply an add-on in your Excel, and it consists of 4 components: Power Query, Power Pivot, Power View and Power Map.
You can just download all of those components here.
We can create a lot of visualization with Excel Power BI. Without programming / coding.
Preview 1:
Example, a business has many stores. The user wants to see the top item sold in each store.
Preview 2
In this example, a user wants to see all receivables amount by customer. The Power View allows user to visualize by pie chart, to recognize proportion and cross filter with detailed data.
Preview 3
Power BI can utilize Bing Map. By linking Customer address to Bing Map, we can get this heat-map in each customer city. The Power View gives us an idea on how big is our business with that customer.
Preview 4
We can also visualize the growth of our business over the time.
Do you have another example of your Excel Power BI? Let’s share the preview …
