Making Viva Sales yours

Microsoft Viva Sales is a seller experience application that uses Outlook (and Teams) to automatically capture, access, and register data into Dynamics 365 CE (and Salesforce).

It eliminates manual data entry and gives sellers more time to focus on selling. By enriching the data set with customer engagement data from Outlook and the power of AI, Viva Sales empowers sellers with sales intelligence that helps them deeply understand their customers for faster deal closure.

Viva Sales is designed to help sellers boost productivity, lighten workloads, save time, and help salespeople sell more.

You work with your Dynamics 365 contacts in the Viva Sales task pane in Outlook. Out-of-the-box, the fields displayed for a Dynamics 365 contact in the Viva Sales Contact Information area are name, title, email, account, phone numbers, and owner (1)

But what if the fields displayed in the Contact Information area doesn’t suit your needs?

With the recent upgrade to Viva Sales, you can now customize Viva Sales to a certain extent, which you can read about here.

For the purpose of this blog post, let’s pretend it would save me a lot of app switching if I could also see the Credit Hold field – present on every Dynamics 365 contact form (1) – in the Viva Sales Contact Information area.

To customize Viva Sales you (as an administrator) must access administrator settings from the Viva Sales app in Teams – see more here

To add a field to the contact form in Viva Sales

Open Teams, access the Viva Sales app (1), navigate to Settings (2), and then click Add fields (3) to open the Add fields dialog

In the Add fields dialog, locate the Credit Hold field (1), and then click Add (2) to add the field to the list of contact form fields

The Credit Hold field (1) is added to the list of contact form fields. Click Publish (2) to publish the customizations

The new setting is saved (1)

Navigate back to Outlook, and verify the new field Credit Hold (1) is now displayed in the Contact Information area of Viva Sales

So now you can configure and customize Viva Sales to bring it even closer to your daily life as a seller, facilitating data capturing, higher data quality, adoption, sales productivity, and more
