Intelligent Edge compatibility with old on-premise Business Central versions.
Hello Team!
We have a customer with running Cloud migration between his on-premise and SaaS Business Centrals using Intelligent Edge.
Here is my previous article about that scenario:
Two months ago we got an upgrade of customer's SaaS tenant. Replication required to make a setup again and suddenly:
#NoMoreBreakingChanges - do you remember?
Our on-premise tenant is v14 and SaaS become v15 - and replication between with versions didn't supported.
I started my investigation from AppSource and I found set of apps for cloud migration between NAV2018 and Business Central. Different localizations but only for NAV2018. It looked like on-premise upgrade to 2019 wave 2 is the only way to have replication and I raised a ticket on Github to ensure (still no answer by the way).
A week later we decided to start preparing to upgrade and I created test environment:
1. Azure VM with on-premise Business Central v15 RU localization
2. SaaS sandbox v15
And here I've got a surprise:
D365 Business Central (Previous Version) product type had been added!
Don't know - was my ticket the reason of this change or not (I prefer to think so) - but after that with a little issues replication completed successfully.
So If you have Intelligent Edge on your project and:
1. Same on-premise Business Central - Choose D365 Business Central product type
2. v14 and lower on-premise Business Central - Choose D365 Business Central (Previous Version) product type
3. NAV2018 - visit AppSourse and install App for NAV2018 cloud migration with needed localization.
Hope that it was useful for you and #NoMoreBreakingChanges!
