Microsoft Dynamics GP Workflow email links being removed from email notifications sent to approvers

We've have noticed that some customers have run into a situation where users are trying to approve workflows in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 through Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 R2 and the approval links either will not work at all or are stripped from the email completely. When this happens, the workflow emails are being viewed through GMail and/or Apple's Mail app and other browsers.

At the same time, if a user opens the same Workflow email notifications in Outlook or the Outlook app if using a mobile device, the approval links show and work as would be expected.  In some cases, if you forward the Workflow email notification from GMail to a GMail application, the links then worked.

The issue with both iOS Mail Client and GMail is that the delivery endpoints do not allow the type of content that is included in our approval emails. It's not any setting that can be changed in Microsoft Dynamics GP, it's something that iOS Mail and GMail simply block to keep their platform security locked down.

A workaround you may try is to change the 'Allow Access for Less Secure Apps' option in the GMail settings, which allows the in-line CSS links that we send to go through.  This option is not available if 2-step Authentication is being used by the GMail account.
**NOTE: This is not recommended nor supported by Microsoft Dynamics GP support, it is just an optional workaround.***

There is no similar workaround for Apple Mail / iOS Mail Client.

The recommended resolution would be to use Outlook or an Outlook app if using a mobile device, when viewing and using the Workflow email notifications to approve or reject workflows through.  Outlook is the email application that is tested and verified with the Microsoft Dynamics GP application.

If you view Workflow email notifications through O365 Mail, it may completely remove the Edit/View link's dgpp:// URL from under it so there will be no link there at all, all the while leaving the approval links (Approve, Reject, Delegate) intact. Seemingly, there is an issue with O365 email removing any dgpp:// links from the email.

As above, if you forward the Workflow email notifications from O365 Mail and view them in Outlook, the Edit/View links show and work correctly.

Hopefully this will save some time investigating these types of issues with Workflow email notification links.
Thanks, Derek

**EDIT 9/6/2018**

We've recently identified an issue with Office 365 accounts where the Approve / Reject links will appear and work, but if you view the Workflow Notification using OWA (Outlook Web Access) the Document Drillback link will not be functional. The document number will appear correctly, but it will not be a clickable link. Drillbacks are intended to be an internal feature, if more information about the document being approved is needed, then the recommended route is to not use drillbacks, it would be to include all information necessary to make the approval decision in the body of the email itself.

Would be neat to get an option to use MS Flow for approvals now that has gone GA.
