Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations - Sandbox Environment
Hello, everyone. My name is Christos Pittis, and I am a Dynamics NAV / Dynamics 365 Consultant. In this episode, I am going to show you how to activate all NAV features in Tenerife apart from Finance, Sales and Purchases.
Dynamics 365 is a business management solution for small and mid-sized organizations that automates and streamlines, and you can order, sell, invoice, and report—from day one. You have access to the following application areas:
Financial management
Inventory management
Sales
Purchasing
Reporting and analytics
Project management
Operations
A new sandbox environment (preview) only contains the CRONUS demonstration company. Actions that you perform in the sandbox environment (preview) do not affect data or settings in your production environment.
This Sandbox environment feature is provided as a free preview solely for testing, development, and evaluation. You will not use the Sandbox in a live operating environment.
Use Microsoft Edge browser, and sign in with your Dynamics 365 Tenerife credentials
Type “sandbox” in the search pane and click on the Sandbox Environment line.
Click Create. Microsoft Edge will most probably prompt you (depending on your settings) to allow a pop-up from *.financials.dynamics.com. Click Always Allow.
Another tab in your browser will open for finishing the setup of your sandbox environment.
Have a look at the welcoming message
You can click on Learn More or the X sign to close the message.
At the top of the Role Center, a notification appears to inform you that this is a sandbox environment. You can also see the type of the environment in the title bar of the client.
In the sandbox environment, a brand-new tenant has been created. This tenant is loaded with default demonstration data for the CRONUS company. No data is copied or otherwise transferred from the production environment during the sandbox creation.
You now have access to the sandbox environment, not the online version of it. If you try to search for sandbox again, you will get an error “This feature is only available in the online production version of the product.”
At any time, you can return to the Sandbox Environment page, and reset the sandbox environment. (Resetting the sandbox environment will remove it completely, and then create it again with the default demonstration data.)
You can now switch between your production and sandbox environments as per below. Alternatively, you can use the Dynamics 365 app launcher.
It is possible to enable and try the advanced (full) functionality of Dynamics 365 in a sandbox tenant by setting the Experience field on the Company Information page.
Set it to Advanced.
After doing so, click ESC to close the page. The system will have the browser refreshed and once done; you will be able to have access to all modules.
