Batch disposition status, dates and on-hand in one form in Dynamics 365 F&O

Paolo Cecchelli Profile Picture Paolo Cecchelli 225
Today I want to share a little piece of information that can come handy when working in industries like pharmaceuticals and food and beverage. In these industries it is important to keep track of batches and their expiration date and to block or recall batches with problems. Often I am asked to have a clear picture of the batch number, manufacturing and expiration dates, disposition code (that controls the status of the batch), the other physical dimensions and of course the on-hand.
After struggling for sometimes I found this workaround that can come helpful to see everything in one screen without Excel exports or custom views. The menu “Shelf life as of date” under Inventory management --> Inquiries and reports --> Batches by default opens with the “As of” date set as today’s date:

So here we have all the information on expired batches, but as you can see we have in one screen all the information we would like to have on the on-hand report for this kind of batches.
We can have the full picture just by changing the parameter “As-of-date” to something far away in the future, like “31/12/2154” (or any date in which you know that after that now you do not have any expiring products) and you will have the full list of batches with all the relevant information:

That’s all folks, see you next time!
