  • Business Unit, This can think as a grouping of members working in Organization.
  • Organization may be Small or big, always have different sectors of business and each business have different role to play or combined role to play.
  • Organization having different sector of business which need  to be grouped so to identify and monitor every area of business.
  • An Organization having Finance Unit, Marketing Unit, Sales Unit, Service Unit, Development Unit, Resources Management Unit etc.

  • Each Unit has n number of employees and n number of team and to manage all together without defining those in groups will be difficult to manage and monitor.
  • So CRM out of the Box provide a functionality where you can create a logical group  of those teams and users who belongs to different sectors or unit of business.
  • A Sector which deals with marketing can have a marketing business unit, and this business unit can have multiple team which works only for marketing and multiple users which works for marketing.
  • Same way we can have multiple Business unit for multiple business sector of Organization.
    Each business unit have specific team and users linked to them

Also each business unit can have facilities and resources specific to their business.
For e.g. Banners as a facilities and travelling vendors as resources can be of no use for Sales Business unit and Service business unit. Those facilities and resources can be used only by marketing Business members.

Parent business unit – This is required field which can any other business unit.
Only default business unit will have no value inside this field.
When you create new business unit you have to specify a parent business unit, every business unit is directly or indirectly under default business unit.
if you reference any newly created business unit to parent business unit of default business unit, you will get following error.

This is 1 to N related, which means you cannot have more than one parent business unit.
Address details –
This can be shipping or billing address, which can be used as reference to overall users and team of Business unit.
A business unit with lots of users or team can have same billing or shipping address as mostly team or user of same business have same location of contact.
Contact details –
This Can be web site details or phone email details which can be common for all team or users in same business unit.
Human resources unit may have different team, like BDE, Head HR or some Recruitment team but there can be a single point of contact details which can be shared among all.

Child business unit – Once the Business Unit is created specifying parent business unit,
We can map more business unit under new created business unit,
Large organization have many levels of grouping as there can be many different business at different location and so.
Team under business unit –
Business unit are created to group up teams, we can have no team, 1 team or more than 1 team in same business unit.
Deleting team is allowed but, if you try to delete team under default business unit you will prompt with an error.
Users under business unit –
Creating Business unit has main purpose of grouping users, so to manage them individually in the context of business unit.
Business unit can have team or can have users directly which are not in any team. The advantage of this option is to connect direct users who  themselves are team head or organization head.
Facilities under business unit –

Facilities are something which can be differ  or can be common for business units, like stationaries is something which can be used in sales and service department so
Facilities are create Under
Setting >  business management > Facilities/Equipment’s
For creating Facilities, We can group those under different sites or location
Site/location  is created under
Setting > Business Management > Site
This is the list of sites which are used as a location.
Sites has Address and contact details,
So when a facilities is created, this facilities or equipment needs to associated with particular site/location as this help Users to know where/how to contact for facilities and equipment.
Once this facilities are created, it can be linked with business unit, so that every team member need not to worry about viewing all the facilities which are of no use to them.
Sales person will see only facilities which is under his business unit and not others.

Every Facilities/Equipment must have business unit, because access of those facilities is based on access of business unit only.
Resources group under business unit –

This is a collection of resources which can be an users, a team, Facilities/Equipment or another resources group in it
Resources group can be created under setting > business management > Resources Group.
Once the resource group you can add resources in it and connection
Connection will be explain in later blogs

Notes:
A single user/Team can have only single business unit
User XMAN Cannot be the part of USA business unit and UK business unit at a time.
Team Marvel cannot be the part of USA business unit and UK business unit at a time.
But a Business unit can have a team with users having different business unit.
For E.G Captain America Of team super rangers having business unit of Marvel and Batman of team super rangers of business unit DC,
The Team is same for both different user with different business unit, this team can be the part of third business unit, world saves business unit.
