FieldOne: Bing Map API v7 deprecation
This only effects customer that are currently using Fieldone.
What is changing?
With the deprecation of the Bing Maps v7 API (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/maps/discontinued-control-migration-guidelines) coming in October 2017, after which, any requests to these API calls will fail or not work as expected. The impacts to CRM have been outlined at the following Knowledge Base Article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4038205/the-bing-maps-control-no-longer-renders-in-forms-and-the-area-will-app
How does this impact my FieldOne?
FieldOne relies on Bing Maps for mapping and routing. Specifically these following areas within the product would be impacted by the deprecation of Bing Maps v7 API.
-
Geo Coding feature for Accounts, Contacts, Resource, Company Address and Users.
-
Schedule Assistant features
-
Directions - From the current location to the service location.
-
Schedule Board - To provide a visual representation of the Account/Contact/Resource/Office Location on the map.
Once the Bing Maps v7 API has been retired, calls to retrieve such data will no longer work as expected, resulting in a loss of functionality and potentially unexpected errors regarding connectivity issues to Bing Maps.
