Issue Gift card for Free in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3
Hi Guys,
In this blog post we will have a walk-through on how to Issue gift cards that should be charged to the Customer. I came across such requirement and thought of sharing the same with you all. We can achieve this in many ways by workarounds and no customization.
Issue Gift card for Free on POS using Receivable Customer
Create a new Customer, lets say Gift Card Receivable customer which will be used as an On account payment for Gift cards. Let see how it works on POS.
Select the regular Customer and the products that he/she wants to buy. Now issue a Gift card suppose for $100.
Now click on On Account payment method to proceed with the payment.
Click on Change Customer and select the Gift card receivable customer.
Now tender only the Gift card amount that is $100.
Tender the rest of the amount using the payment method that the Customer wants to pay with.
This way you will avoid charging the Customer for the Gift card amount. Later the amount against the Gift card receivable Customer can be settled and moved to ledger account.
Issue Gift card for Free on Call Center using Coupons
You can create Coupons to give discount on the Gift card amount.
Create a coupon and add the Gift card item to it so that the coupon is applicable only to the Gift card product.
Attach you user to the Call center.
Create a sales order and add the Gift card product. Click on packing tab on the line details fast tab in the Line view of the sales order.
Enter the Gift card details.
Add the other products that the Customer wants to Buy.
Now add the Coupon to the Sales order on Manage tab
Click on Complete button to proceed with the payment.
It will show the Coupon amount is exactly equal to the Gift card amount and this way Customer will not have to pay for the Gift card amount.
We have seen one way n each POS and Call center where we can Issue free Gift cards to the Customer. If you have any other ways to achieve it, do post us in the comments.
