Number sequence has been exceeded

Lachlan Profile Picture Lachlan

When you setup AX you will have to configure number sequences in the different modules. Eventual the sequence may run out of numbers in that case you need to create a assign a new sequence. But when the user gets the message that the number sequence has been exceeded it is usually displayed with the recid of the number sequence which is difficult from a business user perspective to relate to the setup.

Now if you know the setup you will likely know the transaction you are doing an the number sequence related to it. If you don’t know the setup then how do you find the number sequence. One trick is that you can use the number sequence list and try to narrow it down using the next number and the largest number. In this case I exported to Excel and use that to help me locate it.

Here is a quick overview.
