In June the Dynamics CRM User Group (CRMUG) held two regional conferences in Dallas, TX and Minneapolis, MN which gave the 100+ CRM users in attendance a chance to network with other users and benefit from some great content over the course of a day and a half. One of the biggest benefits of the content the CRMUG provides is that it stems real world use and is delivered by actual CRM users, MVPs, or CRM partners. The goal with these sessions is to provide users, administrators, and developers with targeted material that they can take back and use right away in their organizations as opposed to conferences like Convergence which provide high level content geared toward a more general audience.
For the inaugural year each regional conference had 15 sessions over 3 different tracks. End user training sessions at the regional conferences focused on topics like using advanced find, charting and dashboards, and using the Outlook/Excel with CRM. On the administrator side, sessions on workflows and dialogs, marketing automation, the new tablet application were on the agenda. And finally the developers were kept busy with sessions on application lifecycle management with CRM (presented by yours truly in Minneapolis), SQL Server performance, and a CRM DevFest to wrap up the day. In between sessions you could also spend time talking to one of the sponsoring partners or ISVs that were on hand.
If content provided by users for users sounds like something you might be interested in you should also check out the upcoming CRMUG Summit this October 14-17 to be held in St. Louis, MO. Tentatively there are 100+ sessions on the schedule on a huge variety of topics. With that many sessions and an expected attendance in the neighborhood of 600+ you should have no trouble learning something new or connecting with people that have a similar focus.
If your organization is not already a member of the Dynamics CRM User Group (CRMUG) I’d encourage you to check it out. The pricing is very reasonable and they provide a wealth of content through their website, regular webinars, conferences and local chapter meetings.
