Importing Templates into Dynamics CRM

Situation:

Having templates to give to employees or database administrators to easily import bulk date into Dynamics CRM, including custom fields.

Problem:

Staff provides data to be imported into CRM with data in all different kinds of columns, headers named differently than Dynamics CRM, data is in the wrong format, or incorrect option set.

Solution(s):

1. Dynamics CRM Admin goes to Settings

2. Under Settings look to the System Menu

3. Select Data Management

4. Select Templates for Data Import

5. Select the record type.

6. Download

This provides an excel template that data can be filled into based on the fields, including custom, for that entity for the specific environment it is downloaded from.

Columns are formatted to match the field in Dynamics CRM and any option lists, already have the correct options to choose from.
