How to Delete a View in Microsoft Dynamics 365

Creating custom views in Microsoft Dynamics is not only a great feature but an efficient time-saver for many users.

But what do you do with those custom views when they become outdated and no longer relevant? There is no need to let them sit in the view graveyard.

Use this easy tip to keep your instance of Dynamics clean by deleting those old, no longer used views in just a few steps.

  1. From the Gear icon, go to Advanced Settings >Settings > Customizations > Customize the System

  2. Go to the entity for the view that is no longer needed (in the example below it is called ‘Active Accounts in the East’)
  3. Click views in the entity
  4. Select the view you want to delete

  5. It will ask you to confirm the deletion of the view. Once deleted it cannot be undone. If you are unsure if you will need the view in the future, deactivation should likely be done instead of deletion.

  6. You may get a pop-up that says, “Cannot Delete Component” if you try to delete a view that is managed or used in other areas of Dynamics.

Once deleted the view will no longer show in the views in Dynamics or in the Active Entity Views list.
