Installing reporting extensions on SQL 2016

When installing reporting extensions on SQL server 2016, you may experience a crash during the installation preventing the installation to complete.

To overcome this issue you need to manually install some additional components.

Note: Ensure any previous attempts to install the reporting extensions are uninstalled prior to completing the following.

From the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP1 Feature pack https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35580

install the following two components

a)      Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP1 Shared Management Objects

SharedManagementObjects.msi

b)      Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP1 Analysis Management Objects

SQL_AS_AMO.msi

After these two components have been installed, restart the server then install the reporting extensions.
