Error connecting to Plugin Registration Tool: Multiple tokens in cache

Danish N. Profile Picture Danish N. 255

This has happened to me multiple times now; hence thought about blogging it. Some times when you are using more than two users to connect to Plugin Registration Tool it throws an error – which makes no sense because few minutes ago you were able to connect and in next minute you get error.

This happens because the tool saves the token for the user credential you had used earlier and when you switch the user in the same domain it gets confused because it find multiple tokens.

To resolve this error is pretty simple.

  • Close Plugin Registration Tool (if already opened)
  • Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\PluginRegistration folder
  • Find the file name “Default_PluginRegistration.tokens.dat”
  • Delete this file
  • Try to connect to Plugin Registration Tool

Every time you use two different users you might have to do this.

If this helped you please leave a comment below. Thank you.
