Reply vs Reply All Setting – Distribution List Life Saver

CRMInnovation.com Profile Picture CRMInnovation.com

Although this blog is all about Dynamics CRM (now Dynamics 365) I stumbled onto something this morning that I didn’t know was even a setting option in Outlook that I wanted to share with all my blog followers.

Have you ever been burnt by doing a Reply All to a distribution list email which will go to everyone but really only intended to reply back to the sender? Have you ever sent something to everyone that was in the To: box but only meant it for the sender?

Well here’s a way to keep you from potential utter embarrassment.

There is a setting in Outlook 365 that can control whether Reply or Reply All is the default.

I haven’t fully thought through this myself whether I will change it to just Reply yet. I can see how it would be inconvenient 85% of the time, requiring additional clicks and copy to do a Reply All. However, if it saves me from looking stupid, foolish, or just a ‘newbie’ by accident once a month it probably is going to be well worth it.
