How to create YouTube videos for Microsoft Dynamics NAV: Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017
Microsoft Dynamics NAV YouTube video guide
Microsoft Dynamics NAV YouTube video guide
After going through this guide you will be able to create high-quality YouTube educational videos for Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP solution
Many people ask me why I spent my precious and limited time on creating educational YouTube videos around Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The answer is simple: I TEACH TO LEARN
Yes, that’s true. Microsoft Dynamics NAV is one of the richest ERP solutions, in terms of functionality and on top of that, new releases are coming out every year so it’s quite hard keeping up with the technology. Consequently, my strategy is simple. I create educational content to learn for myself. There are some other benefits coming along with this, though:
- You demonstrate your skills to your audience
- You appear to be an active member of this fast-growing community
- You create legacy for yourself
In this guide, I am going to show you how I create high-quality YouTube videos for Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Let’s get started!
Video editing software
Camtasia Studio
Camtasia allows you to edit your recordings and produce videos without switching between apps.
You can:
- Record on-screen activity
- Add imported media
- Create interactive content
- Share high-quality HD videos
You can download free trial here
There are two types of recordings:
- Talking head
2. Screencasting
I always start with a talking head introduction video and then I continue with screen recording. In Camtasia Studio, you can find license free music so you can include in your videos.
Script
Office Word
You can’t just start talking without a plan. It is strongly advised you put together a script, so you keep yourself disciplined and complete the video in a fair amount of time.
Additional benefits:
- Create a blog post on LinkedIn, Medium or your website to attract additional viewers
- Google SEO purposes.

PowerBI and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 – How to download, install and create your first report
Hello, everyone, my name is Christos Pittis, and I am a Microsoft Dynamics NAV consultant. In this episode, I am going to show you how to download, install and create your first report with Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016, on your PC and mobile device.
Power BI is a suite of business analytics tools to analyze data and share insights. Monitor your business and get answers quickly with rich dashboards available on every device.
You can Visualize and analyze everything in one place.
- Your whole business on one dashboard
· Create stunning interactive reports
· Consistent analysis across your organization
· Easily embed BI and analytics in your app
NAV Web Service is one of the Sources for Power Query/Power BI. Let me show you how to create and publish one. Go to the search bar and search “web service”. Click on it. Click on the New button at the top. In the Object Type field select Query, and in the Object ID find and pick query 100. Tab away and give a Service Name to it. Place a checkmark in the Publish field to get an OData URL.
Open your browser and type https://powerbi.microsoft.com
Click on the SignUp Free button. Under the Choose how to get started section and PowerBI desktop for windows click on the download button. So, while waiting for the executable file to get downloaded feel free to register yourself.
Hit the executable file to start installing the suite. Follow the wizard and complete the installation. Once the installation finishes, open the application and sign-in.
Go back to the NAV web services and copy the OData URL from the query 100. Access the PowerBI application and click on the Get Data button on the top. Click on the OData Feed button and then paste the URL. Click OK. Click Load so to load the data from your Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 database.
Place a checkmark in the fields you need. In this example I will work with the following fields:
- No.
- Name
- Country/Region
- City
- Sales (LCY)
- Profit (LCY)
Enlarge the table on your left-hand side and click on the Sales (LCY) column to sort the data. Click on the pie chart to get a visual representation of the report. Finally, hit the Publish button on the top, so you make the report available on all your devices.
You can access all your reports with mobile devices if you are on the go, for example, if you are at the customer site, or you are in a board meeting. Go to your mobile’s app store and download and install the PowerBI app.
