If unable to open in Excel a general journal and getting error as record for id ..... not found

then go to document templates and see if the template exists

if same error comes

there could be several reasons why the template may not be there e.g. if you restored DB from one environment to other

A simple fix is to find the template (Excel) and upload again by overriding existing one
