Image Analyzer Extension in Business Central
In this Blog We will Discuss Smarter Item and Contact Insights with the Image Analyzer in Business Central
Managing hundreds of products or contact images in Dynamics 365 Business Central can be time-consuming — especially when you want to keep all your item and customer information detailed and accurate.
That’s where the Image Analyzer extension comes in.
This feature uses Microsoft Azure’s Computer Vision AI to automatically recognize what’s inside your images and suggest useful attributes — so you don’t have to do the manual work!
What the Image Analyzer Does
The Image Analyzer looks at any image you upload to an item or contact record and detects key features automatically:
- For items, it might recognize what type of product it is (for example, a table, car, or chair) and identify colors such as red or blue.
- For contacts, it can estimate details such as gender or age range based on the photo.
These insights help you organize your catalog or contact list faster and keep your data richer and more meaningful.
How It Works
When you import an image into Business Central, the Image Analyzer automatically scans it and suggests attributes.
Each attribute comes with a confidence level, showing how sure the AI is about its prediction.
By default, the AI only shows suggestions that it’s at least 80% confident about — but you can adjust that percentage if needed.
If you’d like to know more about how these confidence levels are calculated, you can refer to Microsoft’s documentation on the Computer Vision API.
Availability and Usage Limits
The Image Analyzer extension is free to use in Business Central.
However, there’s a small usage limit: you can analyze up to 100 images per month by default.
That’s usually enough for most small and mid-sized businesses, but if you need more, you can always contact your administrator for options.
Privacy and Data Protection
When you use the Image Analyzer in Business Central, the system sends your images — like item or contact pictures — to Microsoft’s Computer Vision API (part of Azure Cognitive Services) for analysis.
This means a small amount of data is shared only for the purpose of detecting image attributes, and nothing else.
The process follows Microsoft’s strict security and privacy standards, but the rules for this service might be a little different from Business Central’s own compliance settings.
You are always in control:
👉 You can turn off or uninstall the Image Analyzer extension anytime if you don’t want to use it anymore.
