How to create a Data Connection Library in Enterprise Portal AX 2012

This article will guide users to enable the SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features to be able to create Data Connections, Report Libraries, & Slide Libraries on the Enterprise Portal site for AX 2012.

Before you begin make sure you have the appropriate permissions on the EP site. You should have Full Control Permission level assigned to the user account you will be logging with.

Enable The features in EP

  1. Open up your EP site by going to the site URL http://Servername:2712/Sites/DynamicsAx
  2. Log on with the account that has Full Control (If you are using an account different from your Windows account, you will need to launch IE InPrivate.)
  3. Click on Site Actions
  4. Select Site settings Site-Settings.PNG
  5. Click Manage site features under the Site Actions sectionSite-Actions.PNG
  6. Find the SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features and click Activate EP-DataConnections.PNG

Now you will have the Data Connection Library, Report Library & Slide Library options available under the Libraries section.

Create the Library

In this example we are going to use the Data Connection Library feature.

  1. Open up your EP site by going to the site URL http://Servername:2712/Sites/DynamicsAx
  2. Log on with the account that has Full Control (If you are using an account different from your Windows account, you will need to launch IE InPrivate.)
  3. Click on Site Actions
  4. Click More OptionsMore-Options.PNG
  5. Select Data Connection Library under the Libraries sectionData-Connection.PNG
  6. Insert Name, Description (optional) and click CreateName.PNG

Now when you navigate back to Site Action > View All Site Content, You will have a new Data Connection under Document Libraries.
