It’s official, say hello to David Musgrave MVP!

I have been involved with the Great Plains / Microsoft Dynamics GP Community for many years and for much of that time I have been friends with some of the most knowledgeable and helpful people in the community.

A number of these friends have been recognised by Microsoft for their contributions by being awarded Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) status.

Many people have been surprised to find out that even though I usually hang out with the Dynamics GP MVPs, I was not actually a MVP. That said, I was usually treated as an honourary MVP and invited to MVP events. Thank-you for the unofficial recognition.

The issue was that a Microsoft Employee cannot be a MVP and I had been a Microsoft Employee for 13.5 years starting not long after Microsoft acquired Great Plains.

In October 2014, I left Microsoft and restarted my consulting business as Winthrop Development Consultants.

A number of the MVPs and also people in Microsoft immediately nominated me for MVP status, however as the MVP award is based on the contribution to the community made over the previous 12 months, I was not eligible until I had been out of Microsoft for at least a year.

Today is October 2015 and 12 months have passed since I left Microsoft and I am very proud to say that it is now official. I received the email today confirming that I have been awarded MVP status.

We appreciate your outstanding contributions in Dynamics GP technical communities during the past year.

Thank you to everyone who nominated me and to the people who approved my nomination. It is great to be recognised for the work I do and I feel very proud to now be able to say that I am part of an elite group of people….
