Advanced rules in accounting structure in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations one version D365FO
advanced rules provides additional financial dimensions to become part of account combination which are not included in account structure
Use case scenario: link a dimension or multiple dimensions to a main account number or to a range of main account numbers, so that additional information can be gathered for reporting.
Best practices
- Rules cannot replace the account structure. A structure must always exist with at least a main account segment
- Rules cannot add dimensions before other segments already in the account structure
- Rules should not be used to replace the use of constraints in the account structure for additional dimensions that are always required regardless of the main account
- Rules should not be used to replicate segments that already exist in the account structure or other rules
- Any duplication will automatically join and use the most restrictive constraint
- The location of the duplicated segment will only appear in the first occurrence
- Organization hierarchy can be used also but the child can have only 1 parent. If more than 1 parent, then either split the org. unit or use adv. Rules.
