Using Rich text vs. Plain text content control in Word format (ER)

Deciding when to use rich text vs plain text content control leads to one major question.

If the content that will be filled in the word format could contain multiple lines,
should the next content control be moved downwards?

Lets check 2 cases where the content contains multiple lines


Case 1:
For the customer address (1) I used a plain text content control with the option ticked "Allow carrige returns (multiple paragraphs)" (2). This option is not available for the rich content control. With the plain text we still have the option to use specific fonts, size make it bold and so on.
Reason being, when the customer address is filled, it could contain 3 lines, but maybe even more lines and therefore be too close to the next content control (3). I also want to have always the same space between the customer address and the next content control (3). In worst case, with too many lines, the address could also be cut off as the next content control starts.





Case 2:
For the HeaderText2 (1) I used the rich text content control. I dont have the option "Allow carrige returns (multiple paragraphs)" (4).
So, the content of the HeaderText2 is a multi line text with always 3 lines and some variables that will be replaced in the electronic reporting configuration. There is enough space (2), so that it will not touch the next content control (3).



Conclusion is, if the content will never be a multiple lines, go for the rich text, otherwise check if you need the option "Allow carrige returns (multiple paragraphs)", which is only available for plain text content control.
