Unable to login to Business Central “Lock by another user” or “Something Went Wrong”

I found in the forum a post related to this topic, then many MVPs replied about it and since I think this thing is interesting and could be useful to users, I summarized the opinions and some workaround that have been proposed. I will keep the post updated based on the new cases that will be reported.

SCENARIO

A Customer cannot access to Business Central, the message “Lock by another user” or “Something Went Wrong” appears.

Opening fails with the grey screen and a white box saying that something gone wrong

https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/

Instead, the partner can easily access Business Central.

IN THEORY

In that case, you would need to “log out” and “log in again” to get a fresh session (“Force Asking for a New Session”) but that’s not possible because there is no log out option on that screen; waiting for a timeout is possible, but you have to wait for a lot of minutes then.

WORKAROUNDS

BRUTE FORCE ASKING FOR A “NEW SESSION”

Go to “home.dynamics.com” and “log out” and in on that page; then you can go back to Business Central (by clicking on the app on that page) and then you get a “new session”.

Other solution, open a Sandbox Company and after return to the Production environment (could start a new session) or un-freeze or reconnect to your existing session.

FORCE CLEAN COOKIES

Cleaning cookies can solve many errors on https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/

WORKING IN “PRIVATE MODE”
Working in Browser private mode, that solves all potential problems with cookies and dead sessions etc. etc. Especially that helps if you use different sign-in user accounts. Cookies are separated between profiles, working in private mode you can solve all cookies issues.
