This post is part of the Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2021 Release Feature of the Day series where I am going to echo the posts from the Inside Microsoft Dynamics GP Blog, while adding some commentary, on the new features introduced in the Microsoft Dynamics GP October 2021 Release which is now available.
This post is on the Update Account Description in Mass Modify Financial enhancement.
A common request to Microsoft has apparently been the ability to recreate the account descriptions using the Mass Modify Chart of Accounts window (). This enhancement has sen an option, Update Account Description, added to the Modify drop down which will recreate the account description for the selected accounts; it will use the associated segment description for each segment separated with a hyphen:
I don’t like the Mass Modify window very much and don’t think I have any clients who use it; in most cases the account description is not just a simple derivative of the segment descriptions so this function wouldn’t be much use anyway.
