Microsoft Dynamics AX uses integrated Windows authentication to authenticate Active Directory users. If you configure Microsoft Dynamics AX to use a different authentication provider, users are authenticated by that provider. An Active Directory domain controller is a prerequisite for installing Microsoft Dynamics AX.
