Hello Team,

This is regarding USD 2.0.1 release issue. Few days back i downloaded the USD 2.0.1 from Microsoft official site (Now this download site is also not opening from last couple of days...) and i started working on its new feature "Customization File". This new feature works fine for few of the hosted control DLLs, but its not working with the Adapter type Hosted Control which contains DLLs and EXEs both.

What I am doing is described below:

  • I have configured a External Hosted Application type Hosted Control to use a dll and exe for some kind of automation. It works by just copying the DLL and EXE into the USD installation directory. But if i use Configuration File feature of USD 2.0.1 (as given in link https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/usd/2015/11/19/customization-files-in-unified-service-desk/), it supposed to work too with copying the file at C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\UnifiedServiceDesk\<MyOrgName> location. but its not working anymore. Also found below error in Error File: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'mydll' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
  • Its mentioned on MSDN forum that, it is not necessary to copy the Package Deployer Temp files to USD Client installation directory to make it work smoothly, but while i am launching USD client 2.0.1 its giving me so many error of Cannot load KPI control, Email generator, notes manager etc, which i guess due to not to copying of Package Deployer Temp files in USD Client installation directory. Please let me know is that mandatory to copy the Temp file in USD 2.0.1 Client installation directory to make it work properly.

Please help us out in this as we are struggling with these USD upgradation issue from so long specially its Customization Files feature. I am assuming that Microsoft is going to fix these issues in next release of USD soon thats why i am not able to find its download link from last couple of days. Kindly revert soon on this...

Thanks for your time!

You mention a couple of issues here, one big the links to download use 2.0.1. They were down for a time but restored now. So you can try again.

Your issue with the adaptor and customization files is something we also faced. Hosted control dll was fine but adaptor would not work in customization zip file. I think it was because the zip file extracts to the appdata directory and for some reason usd doesn't seem to want to look in this location for the adaptor.

This might be a product bug, so this might not be the answer you want but I suggest you raise with Microsoft support.

In our case we were able to apply a work around which essentially involved using a usd hosted control not an adaptor. (I guess this might not be appropriate in all situations.) You may need to request support from Microsoft direct.
