One of our clients is seeing this.  We're on Update Rollup 18.  Is anyone on the October 2016 update NOT seeing this issue?

Hello All,

I think this is the same issue.

We use 2011 Dynamics CRM on-prem in our org.

Users are starting to have a issue this morning after an IE update was released yesterday.

When opening activities in CRM or some entities there is a blue bar across the screen where the records should be showing up.  (see pic below)
Important to note that records are there but just not displaying correctly after this update. Users without the update are showing these records, no problem.

Working hard to deploy a GPO with IE Blocker Toolkit and stopping updates with Kaseya but for 8 users so far its too late.

Everything is running fine on 11.0.38 and so far I am thinking that the Silverlight KB4013867 might be the culprit?

Looking into what rollup version we have now.
 Workaround so far is with Firefox, but there is some known Silverlight/Modal Dialog issues that makes anything other than IE not fully compatible with CRM.  

Does anyone have any ideas on where to go with this as a next step or how to resolve?

Regarding a work around of Chrome/FireFox, I recommend installing FireFox version 47 and turning off automatic updates.  Version 48+, FF has similar modal issues as Chrome.

Thanks as this will help as a workaround until we can figure out exactly what's going on. I am blocking all IE and windows updates now. This is happening on our windows 7 machines too.

Same problem here, on both Windows 10 and Windows 7.

Workaround on Windows 7 was to uninstall KB4012215 “March, 2017 Security Monthly Quality Rollup” & KB4012204 "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11"

Same issue here. Forms displaying correctly in IE 11.576, but not in IE 11.953

Can confirm that removing those KB's removes the IE conponent updates that do appear to break certain CRM elements.

Also having the same issue, i have removed the KB4013429 update and after a reboot this cures the problem, sadly windows update re downloads the update and now states: We'll automatically install updates when you aren't using your device, or you can install them now if you want.

I am discussing this with the relevant teams in our EMEA division, but they are reluctant too as this is a security update. I have contacted our Partner and they are escalating to Microsoft for us. I'll update if i hear any more from them

On Windows 8.1 Pro machine problem solved when uninstalled KB4012216.

After uninstalling KB4013429 on the Win10 Machine it worked for me as well.

I declined the updates on my WSUS server.

Also, on some Windows 7 PCs I have had to uninstall KB4012212 as well as/instead of KB4012215.

We logged a Premier Support ticket with Microsoft and they were very responsive.

During a remote session, they confirmed that data was being returned from CRM server side when clicking links, but it just wasn't displaying.

The issue is caused by inproper CSS.  Modifying the height attribute of CSS allows the data to be displayed successfully during the remote session.

The suggestion was to change one line in CRM’s global.css which fixes the issue across all interfaces.

Since then, our CRM developer has figured out that the issue goes away if you the following line to global.css.aspx: span[type="subgrid"] {position:static !important}

As an update from discussing with microsoft support, i can add the following:

It seems that there is a bug in KB4013429, Microsoft Is currently working to release soon a fix for this problem.

For now there are only few possible workarounds:


1. Use IE11 compatibility view or enterprise mode

                            2. CRM 2011 had the Settings, Administration, System Setting, Customizations Tab and "Load Pages in most recent version of Internet Explorer".

 3.  We have had customer remove the offending updates. Since it’s caused by a security update that is a concerning recommendation

We have implemented option 2 which has solved theproblem for us until we can get the fix

Hi All,

I had the same issue

The issue is with the following version from the about screen of IE

Update version:  11.0.40  (KB4012204)

I resolved the issue by installing a new Microsoft update just released to fix the issue.

New KB:  KB4016446


Note a reboot is required

Microsoft released last week  a patch  for this issue.

For Windows   7:   KB4016446

For Windows 10:   KB4016635,  KB4016637

Note a reboot of the workstation will be required
