I have an active business process flow on a sandbox instance of Dynamics 365 which should attach to the Phone Call entity. It has 2 stages with 2 fields associated with each and is collecting information about the next call. I have created and validated the BPF and made it active. However, when I create a new Phone Call the process doesn't appear - I can select it by using Switch Process but again it doesn't appear.
Other system BPF's are appearing - but it looks like 'custom' BPF's aren't working. Also, I notice that if I select the Enable Security roles - the dialog box simply shows a list of Security Roles without the ability to select which Roles will see the BPF.
Seems like a bug - anyone got any good ideas?
Hi Peter, Thanks for reaching out.
Wow, this has changed quite a bit. I have not dug very deep until recently but I understand your confusion.
So I have tested in this in my Dynamics 365 Online sandbox and it is working. I did not require any extra configuration when creating a custom BPF for the "phone Call" entity. Do you have multiple BPF for your phone call entity?
As for security, when that list opens you can edit the security role instead of assigning the role. There is a new tab "Business Process" where you will see a list of business process to assign to each role.
Check that you are system admin you should see the BPF when you create the phone call. If not share some more details or a screenshot of your BPF so we can troubleshoot further.
Thanks for your reply, the security role thing makes sense now - not v intuitive. I notice that Create and Delete were switched off but everything else set to Org access.
So, still not working tho. I'm logged on as System Admin, there is only one BPF for the phone call and basically asks 3 questions (across 2 stages) for the next call - all custom fields.
The BPF is active and selectable - just doesn't show up. Have even tried creating a new one with one question and that doesn't show up either.
Can you try the following:
Clear the cache
Try opening CRM on IE
Save as your BPF activate the new one and deactivate the previous one
Click on new phone call from the list/grid view and not quick create
Silly, but do check that the entity of your BPF is Phone Call
The exact same thing is happening to me. I tried a save as on the existing ones but the my new ones still don't work.
I've had issues in Firefox not showing the BPF for my Opportunity form. It's like it has been collapsed but there is now way to bring it back in.
It shows in Chrome/IE, but not FF.
If I zoom the view to 300% I can see it! What the...
Did you start seeing this issue after you upgraded to Dynamics 365 8.2 version ?
We have few known issues with BPF not showing up which we have fixed now for Online orgs and for On-premise it will be fixed in UR1.
Yes for me it is Dynamics 365 Online, 8.2. How did you fix it?
I guess your scenario is BPF shows up in IE/Chrome without issues. What I was talking about is BPF not showing up at all after upgrade in any browser which is fixed in UR1 update.
In your scenario it is more browser specific issue , I would suggest you top try on a different machine too, to check the behavior.
I am using D365 Online with Chrome but I also checked in Firefox.
I've checked this morning in IE, Firefox and Chrome and they seem to be working now.
I have discovered that my IT group has disabled updates to Firefox because that will break some internal systems we use in other departments. I'm guessing that's my issue. Works in Chrome and IE still. Frustrating, but at least there is a work-around.
Anyone from Microsoft able to confirm? BPF on Opportunity form not showing because we are on version 45.1.1?
Updated version is 51.0.1
I have the exact same problem. Created a new business process flow on the Case entity. Loged on as a system administrator, process flow is active but still wont show up. I have tried in all different browsers but still the same problem.
Anyone got any other suggestions for workarounds?
We have just updated to 8.2 on-premise and having the same issue. Hearing that there will be a fix in UR1, does Microsoft have a HOTFIX that can be used to resolve this for now?
I had the same issue too. In order to resolve this issue I opened up the specific security role that the impacted users had applied and made sure that the permissions were enabled for the new custom BPFs.
Security Roles --> Select Appropriate Role -->Business Process Flow Tab --> Set permissions for new BPF, then save and publish. Then have the user refresh their CRM window (f5) and the new BPF should be available/showing for them based on BPF order settings.
NOTE: If you create a new security role to add these additional permissions and apply it to the users, they will need to log out and log back in for the changes to take effect.
I had a similar issue, but was able to resolve it by adding the Business Process Flow to the Sales app. I then entered the Sales App and there it was!
Add it to an existing app by going to Settings > My Apps > click ... on existing app > Open in App Designer. Once in designer, there is a Business Process Flows component where you need to select which BPF's you want to appear. Mine wasn't selected, so that's why it didn't appear.
Or you could try to create a new app by going to Settings > My Apps > Create App and select the BFF's in there.
Not sure if my issue was exactly the same as yours, but worth a try.
Issue is still there in D365 Ver. 126.96.36.199 (DB 188.8.131.52) , Can you please check and let me know by when will this be fixed.
I had the same problem an it was solved by including BPF into de Sales APP. It is a strange requirement, but it worked.
Settings > Application > My Apps > Sales > ... > Open in App designer. After that, select BPF and, I believe, it is going to work.
We had the same situation with the security roles. We managed to add the security roles to the BPF by using the URL of the Security Role configuration dialog. Use the following URL:
Details on this workaround can be found here:
The issue with the BPF not appearing could be related to the D365 apps you have. I found that custom BPFs were not appearing when we accessed D365 via clicking on the sales app as opposed to the 'Custom' app. If you compare the same record in the two different apps, you'll see that they have different URLs (one of which will include a guid). If you have different D365 apps try accessing the same record through all of them and see if there is any difference.
Hopefully you've managed to get this fixed by now as I've heard there is a patch released for online which should resolve most of the BPM issues, for those who the fix didn't work for and for those of you using on-premise installations I have written an article which covers whether you may be seeing the same issue I was and how to fix it.
Best I could tell, during migration some required fields in CRM and in the SQL database are not correctly populated, so I've created a script which will fix the issue and correctly apply values in the missing fields.
Hopefully this will help some of you - https://spandcrm.com/2017/06/26/dynamics-365-business-process-flow-doesnt-appear-on-records/
I had the same issue. My custom business process flow didn't appear under Customer Service-> Cases. I had to goto Settings->My Apps->Select Customer Service App. Click on ... and
Select Open in App Designer, Then in the designer select Business Process Flows and mark the business process flow(s) that're not marked. Then Save-> Publish
You should see the missing BPF now if you goto Customer Service->Cases and create a new case or open an existing case.
Adding the BPF to the app worked for me.
