Newest Dynamics Release Server Compatibility

The Dynamics GP Requirements page is a little confusing. If our customer is moving to the newest version of 18.8, do they need to be on Server 2025 or can they still be on 2022? In the past, they normally gave a bit more time for upgrading the server when a new version came out. We are a bit worried about time constraints to get everyone upgraded.

Microsoft Windows Server 2025 Essentials Edition or Standard Edition (18.7.1756 GP version or later)

Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Essentials Edition or Standard Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Essentials Edition or Standard Edition

They can stay on Windows Server 2022, however it is always recommended to stay on the latest versions of all software once compatibility has been confirmed.

The information on the system requirements page is saying that if you want to use Windows Server 2025, that GP 18.7.1756 or later has been tested and confirmed compatible.

Earlier GP versions will probably work just fine, but have not been tested.

    Hope this helps

Per the System Requirements link in your post, versions back to Windows 2012 are supported (but some of those older versions are at end of life with Microsoft).

Most of our clients are upgrading to Windows Server 2022/SQL Server 2022.  (With more clients on virtual servers, it is becoming increasingly common to see IT departments upgrading existing images.  This makes the upgrade much simpler than migrating to new servers!)

The SQL Server versions are more critical as they are dropping off the system requirements GP 18.7 and later support SQL 2022, 2019, and 2017.  (SQL Server 2016 was dropped with GP 18.7.)
