The Problem: Business Central currently only allows VAT differences to be updated as a collective amount on the Statistics page for lines sharing the same VAT Product Posting Group.
This limits our ability to:
- Set different VAT amounts per line when the lines share the same VAT Product Posting Group
- Allocate VAT differences based on custom logic beyond proportional distribution
Failed Customization Attempts:
- Manual line-level VAT Difference Update? -> Overridden by system calculations
- Pre-posting VAT recalculation in journals? -> Inconsistency errors
- Post-document VAT updates? -> Misalignment with posted VAT entries
The Proposed Solution: Introduce functionality allowing users to:
- Update VAT differences at line level, even with same VAT Product Posting Group
- Allocate VAT differences using alternative methods beyond proportionate logic
- This enhancement would empower finance teams to better reflect actual VAT scenarios and meet local compliance requirements more flexibly.
