Threshold discounts

Hi All,
I am trying to setup a threshold discount where if someone spends over 100 on any product/s, they receive an additional product for free. If they spend over 300, they get a different product for free.
From what I can see, it doesnt work when i specify just a category in the lines section. When i enter a specific product, it makes it free on the POS. Is this how it is supposed to work?
I cant believe that we are expected to load every single product into the Lines tab for this to work.

This doesnt work where i have specified the category in the lines section. When you click on shared products, it shows all products so Im a bit confused.

I have specified the category in the line.
For each discount tier, i specified a specific product that they would get for free.

Shared products:

This one works where i specify the specific products that the customer must buy before they get a free item:

On the lines i specified specific products that the customer can buy and per discount tier, i specified a product that the customer would get for free.

The only difference between these 2 is that the actual products were entered on the lines tab vs a category being specified on the line.

Can someone confirm that this is how it works currently and we cant specify a category to get a free product?

Thank you!

    Hi,

The item that you have specified to get 100% discount, is that same item also found (included) in the category which you are basing the discount on? Since an item can't be both in the "Lines" section and the "Threshold discount lines" section, no matter if it's "hidden" behind any sort of category.

    Sincerely, Linus

    Hi there.
Thanks for your response but that article does not answer my question.
The free item functionality is available with the pricing management feature which has been recommended not to activate on a production environment.

Therefore, i revert to the threshold discount functionality. In the article, they specify a specific product you must spend your money on to get to the threshold. Our scenario is spend X on any products and get a free product.
