Production order with forward flushing method

Hi all,

I have setup the flushing method as forward in all items. I also tried to setup flushing method as forward for raw material and manual for finished goods, but I have the same result as below.

When I changed the status of production order to forward, what I expected is that there should be only consumption entries in Item ledger entries.
However, there is an output entry as well.

Have anyone had any idea?

    Hello ,

This is expected behavior. The Flushing Method only controls component consumption, not output. With Forward flushing, components are automatically consumed when the production order is finished, but an Output entry for the finished item is always posted—there is no flushing method for output in Business Central. Output is mandatory to create inventory, clear WIP, and calculate costs. So seeing both consumption entries and an output entry when finishing a production order is standard and correct.

    Hi,

When you use Flushing method as Forward for all the output items defined in Production order, system auto posts all the consumption when you release the production order.
Now if you have defined the last Routing line's work center with flushing method as forward then it will also post output for that production order, because last routing line generates output and if you keep that work center with Flushing method forward it auto books output.

    Follow the below steps:
Set up Flushing method as Forward on Output Item, Setup flushing method on work center as Manual.
Check the new case it should only post consumption and not output.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.

The Item and Component Line Flushing method determines when the Consumption entries occur.  With Forward Flushing it happens when the Production Order is changed to Released Status, and slightly different when Routing Link Codes are involved.

The Output entry is occurring because your last Operation has a Work Center with a Flushing Method set.  Simply changing your Work Center's Flushing Method to Manual will stop the auto-output of the Finished Good.

You do not need to worry about the Flushing Method defined on the Finished Good's Item Card, with the exception of it being a sub-assembly that is consumed on another Production Order.

Hope this helps straighten out what is happening.
