Consolidation process

Ran the consolidation process for 2 companies - all accounts have been consolidated into the 'consolidation' company - with the exception of the Equity accounts.

All accounts are set up the same - Posting - and mapping accounts exist.

Why are the equity accounts not being included in this process?
I have the same question (0)

Is it the close income statement entries in the retained earnings account that didn't consolidate? Typically you have to run the close income statement function in the consolidated company.

The issue of equity accounts not being included in the consolidation process in Dynamics 365 Finance is typically due to missing or incorrect setup in the consolidation account mapping, or specific account type behavior during consolidation. Here's how to resolve it:
    1. Check Consolidation Account Mapping
Ensure that equity accounts in the source companies are correctly mapped to corresponding consolidation accounts:
    • Go to General ledger > Periodic tasks > Consolidate > Consolidation account group.
    • Verify that all equity accounts are included and mapped properly to the correct consolidation account.
    • If mapping is missing or incorrect, those accounts will be excluded from consolidation.
    2. Verify Account Type Behavior
Equity accounts might be configured to not consolidate balances:
    • Check if equity accounts are marked as “Do not consolidate” in the main account setup:
      • Navigate to General ledger > Chart of accounts > Accounts > Main accounts.
      • Review the “Do not consolidate” checkbox under the Consolidation fast tab.
      • If selected, the system will skip that account during consolidation.
    3. Validate Posting Layers
Make sure the consolidation process is pulling from the correct posting layer:
    • During the consolidation process setup, confirm that the correct posting layer (e.g., Current) is selected.
    • If equity entries are in a different posting layer (e.g., Operations, Tax), they may be omitted.
    4. Check for Opening Balances
Equity accounts typically reflect retained earnings or opening balances:
    • If no movement occurred during the selected consolidation period and opening balances were not transferred, equity may not appear.
    • Consider using the “Import opening balances” option during consolidation if needed.

    Recommendation:
    • Review and correct the consolidation account mappings and main account setup.
    • Re-run the consolidation process with validated settings.
Let me know if you need a step-by-step check of a specific setup area.

Saif Ali Sabri - I do not have the option to opening balances anywhere.  Thinking this is missing in my setup - where is this option?

Can you confirm which entries didn't consolidate? Is it the year end closing entries, opening balances, etc.

It appears that the opening balances did not get to the consolidation company

When you run consolidation you select a start date and end date, do the opening balances have a posting date that's in between the start-end date? Or are they outside of that period?

All dates are inclusive - used 12/31/2023 - that's were some balances were uploaded
