How to disable Sales Research Agent for users

Hi all,

I’m looking for guidance (or confirmation of a limitation) around disabling the Sales Research Agent in Dynamics 365 Sales.

Background / Requirement

  • We are using Dynamics 365 Sales

  • Dataverse Search must remain enabled, as users rely heavily on global search

  • Copilot is disabled at environment level

  • We want to prevent users from accessing Sales Research Agent due to governance and rollout controls
Even with Copilot turned off in Power Platform Admin Center, the Sales Research Agent is still available to users

This behavior is expected and currently a platform limitation. Even though Copilot is disabled at the environment level in the Power Platform Admin Center, the Sales Research Agent is not governed by the Copilot toggle. Sales Research Agent is treated as a Sales AI capability and continues to be available as long as Dataverse Search is enabled.
In our case, Dataverse Search must remain enabled because users rely on global search functionality. Unfortunately, Dataverse Search is also what enables features like Sales Research Agent. At this time, Microsoft does not provide a supported way to disable only the Sales Research Agent while keeping Dataverse Search turned on.
There is also no supported control to disable Sales Research Agent via security roles, app settings, feature flags, or environment settings. Disabling Copilot does not affect it, and using JavaScript or UI manipulation to block it is unsupported and not recommended.
In short, this is not a configuration issue it’s a current product limitation. The only fully supported ways to prevent access today are governance and user communication, limiting visibility where possible, or using a separate environment for controlled rollout.

I hope this will clarify your query
