Business Central- Adding Columns to Available Lit to Add to Personalized View

Hi,

I have two columns that I want to add to a GL view. When I edit the Business Central view in Excel, I can see the columns are already there but I cannot seem to get them to appear back in Business Central. I am trying to refresh, publish, update and everything else and still have no luck. Any ideas?

When I go back to Business Central the fields are not in my GL report or in the available list of fields when I go to personalize.

Hi,

For Business Central Edit in Excel add-in you will be able to see many fields and add it in the excel which are not available in the Business Central page view. This is standard Business Central.

Though you can see it in the Excel and can add there but it will not directly show in Business Central Page or sometime they do not even show in the Personalize option.

For this there are two options which can help you.

1- Customize pages and roles to bring the field which cannot be added through Personalization.

2- Customize Pages through AL Development.

Hi,

It sounds like you're working with the Excel Data Connector and trying to sync additional columns back into Business Central's GL view. If the columns appear in Excel but not in Business Central, here are a few things to check:

Verify Field Availability: Ensure the fields you're trying to add are actually exposed in the page object you're personalizing. Some fields may be available in the data source but not exposed in the UI by default.

Use Page Inspection: In Business Central, use Ctrl+Alt+F1 (Page Inspection) to check if the fields exist on the page and what their source is.

Check Permissions: Make sure your user role has permission to view those fields. Sometimes, field visibility is restricted based on user profiles.

Try a Custom Extension: If the fields are not available for personalization, you might need a developer to create a page extension to expose those fields.

You're editing a GL view using the Excel Data Connector (Design interface) in Business Central. The fields you want (e.g., Running Balance, Source Currency Amount) are visible in the Available Fields list but not in the Selected Fields list. This means they haven’t been added to the view yet.
Why They Don’t Appear in Business Central:

Excel Design Changes Are Not Automatically Synced: Editing the view in Excel via the Data Connector doesn't push changes back to Business Central unless the design is explicitly saved and published.

Personalization Limitations: If the fields are not part of the selected dataset in the page design, they won’t show up in the personalization pane.

Data Connector vs. Page Design: The Excel Data Connector works on the underlying data source, but Business Central views (like GL reports) are based on page objects. If the page object doesn’t expose those fields, they won’t appear even if they exist in the data source.

Precise Steps to Fix:

Add Fields to Selected Section in Excel Design:
